Richard M. Onofry (deceased)

Richard Onofry (Dick), founded Onofry financial services in 2001 where he faithfully served his clients until he retired at the end of 2021. He went home to be with the Lord in March of 2024.

Dick lived in Port Jervis, NY with his wife, Lynda, where they raised their three children, Scott, Craig, and Megan. Dick loved his hometown of Port Jervis and served his community in various ways throughout his life including: coaching many of his children's sports teams, helping run a basketball program at the Tri State Family Christian Center for several years, and serving as an elder at Grace Fellowship Church and Goodwill Church.

Dick held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from American University and also a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the State University of New York.

Prior to working as a financial advisor Dick worked for over twenty years on economic and financial issues related to the electric utility industry.  In 1996, after leaving the corporate life, Dick founded his own firm. The firm provided financial services to individuals and small businesses as well as utility consulting services.  In October of 1997 Dick joined Strategic Financial Planners, Inc. and managed the Port Jervis office of that firm as a financial advisor until May of 2001 when Dick formed Onofry Financial Services. In 2004 Dick's son, Scott, joined him in the firm where they worked together for 18 years before Dick retired.
